Bunnies, bow ties and babes is the not so secret formula for ancient playboy Hugh Hefner’s riches. The 90 year old founder of Playboy magazine has been throwing parties at his notorious Playboy mansion literally for decades.
Guests commonly included celebrities and “hot girls.” One of these famous celebrities is the 78 year old family-friendly comedian, Bill Cosby. Unluckily for Hefner, his buddy, Cosby, has been battling legal attacks due to his alleged date raping skills.
Chloe Goins was also one of Hefner’s party guests back in 2008. According to allegations, she was drugged and woke up nude, with some goo on her chest, finding Bill Cosby sucking on her toes (wtf?!) in a Playboy mansion room. Goins is suing Hefner, accusing him of warmly providing a convenient and luxurious sanctuary for the expert date rapist, Cosby. She points out that Hefner must have known about Cosby’s tactics (after all, these parties have been going on for half a century). Her claims also shed light on the disturbing fact that many of the “hot girls” drinking at the mansion were under the age of 21.
In line with Goins’ stories and accusation is Holly Madison’s new and revealing book about her life at the mansion with Hefner entitled Down the Rabbit Hole. Madison unveils the darkest and dysfunctional sides of the Playboy brand, including a fully embraced drug culture. This supports Goins’ depictions of the reckless and dangerous activity that occurred during these glamourous parties at the mansion.
The two photos of Holly Madison featured above seem to illustrate the two sides of Playboy with her sparkling smile turning into somber and disconnected frown.
Goins may or may not have a strong case. Regardless, Hefner should be getting sued right now. While Goins may be in over her head, she still has it on straight. Times have changed; gender dynamics are evolving. Goins’ stance is a sign of this cultural evolution. So is Madison’s book. A woman’s right to be the master of her own body in Western culture is gaining ground and respect. Hefner and Cosby represent disintegrating and exploitative values. If Goins wins or not, her public denouncement of these values is a victory in itself. Time for these relics to go. Old dirty farts like #HughHefner and #BillCosby are ancient history. Click To Tweet

Her post is straightforward and pretty bias-free; her tone is calm, but frank. While some of her experiences at the company might appall readers, her author’s […]
“Make information beautiful” is my favorite infographic design tool’s slogan. Piktochart’s phrase really conveys the core purpose of the infographic. In addition to summarizing information beautifully, the infographic is a place to insert subtle but important messages about the writing process. Small but highly supportive messages can be integrated throughout the informative image. Similar to […]
