Even in the chaos of woman’s evolving social role, Raven Felix manages to spit out some poignant and powerful lyrics. Her song, “Little Less Hard” featuring Ashley Jones conveys authenticity; these lyrics are revealing. With her words she approaches confessional greats like Eminem and Sylvia Plath.
I’ll admit, Raven Felix still has a long way to go before becoming a great, but today she is my friday favorite. She’s young, so I forgive some of her singles like “Me” which utters a borderline sexist self portrait of herself.
Even in these early stages of her career, she’s collaborated with rapper legend, Snoop Dogg in “Hit the Gas.” Her recent single, “Bet They Know Now,” features star, Wiz Khalifa. Keep your eye on Raven. She seems to still be in a developmental stage, but as she transforms, I foresee a strong female rapper. @ravenfelix
