Gone are the days when I could indulge and design whatever fantastical costume I felt like. There were no limits on my use of glitter and stockings. Wings. Pink wigs. Purple leotards. These days my Halloween costumes are no longer decided by my whims and fancies; today picking a Halloween costume is a collaborative process. My husband and I decide what we want to be together.
As it turns out, designing a couples costume is not a denigration of my individual expression, but rather a collaborative and exciting project. In other words, couples costumes are twice the fun. However, there are not as many obvious options for paired costumes. Every Halloween my husband and I think back to our favorite movies, scroll Pinterest and try to recall our friends’ costumes. So, in the interest of all couples seeking this kind of inspiration, here’s a collage of creative couples costumes.

Movies are the BEST resource for designing a couples costume. Plus–you get to enact some of your favorite characters alongside your partner who is also enjoying my fake British accent or my incessant knowledge of a film’s quotes.
And on Halloween, it’s totally okay for you to objectify yourself…well, not in the way you think. Be objects!
